I recently had a conversation with Mark Reyland, Executive Director of the United Inventors Association, about the business of inventing. It was such a cool conversation, that I felt compelled to share…

We were chatting about how we truly love the invention business. And really the reason why we love it so much is because we work in an industry where living and following your dreams is really what the industry is all about. No I’m not kidding. I’m actually being serious!

If you think about it…Inventors are idea people, visionaries, creative types, out-of-the-box thinkers. And their ultimate end goal is to materialize their vision into something tangible. Whether or not they decide to materialize their ideas themselves or get someone else to materialize it is really irrelevant. Because at the end of the day, the inventor still had the vision and is trying to do something about it. And that my friends, is why we are in the dream business. We develop our visions and follow our dreams!

But wait, there’s more!

What about all of the inventors who have day jobs and develop their invention business on the side? Or the moms, who work, take care of their kids and stay up late to create their products after their kids are asleep? Or the inventors who take out second mortgages on their homes because they completely believe in their vision?

I mean really people…are there that many other industries where people put their blood, sweat and tears into a cool idea? OK….maybe there are other industries, but still!

At the end of the day, I’d like to think that the invention business is truly unique. It is not a sexy business by any means. And quite frankly, it can be quite a nightmare if your knee deep in trying to make things happen.

But it is filled with people from all walks of life…kindred spirits. People who have aspirations and are united by one simple truth…that they are on a path to materialize their visions and follow their dreams!

To your success,

Karen Waksman
