How to Sell to Party City and Become a Party City Vendor

People always ask me “Karen, how do I get my product in Party City? I have this great product and I think it would be awesome to get them into Party City. How do I get into that retailer? Do you have any quick tips or strategies?.”

That’s what this little blog is all about. Giving you strategy and supporting you in actualizing your dream of getting into these retailers.

The reason I want to mention Party City is because if you have a great party or gift product, Party City could be a magical place for you. But how about the rest of us who have great physical products but never even considered Party City? Well, I want to mention something about that here.

If you’re ever going to Party City, you’ll see that they have so many different types of products and it’s a major chain. But the one thing that most people don’t consider is that if you have a product that you’re selling someplace else and you’d love to sell the retailer, you should consider Party City by just changing your product up and making it into something more specific to holidays. Since Party City sells holiday and gift products for different times a year, especially for parties. But you could take your product and change the packaging a little bit. Make it a little bit different and have it set up for Valentine’s Day perhaps, you never know, you might have a product that’s great for Valentine’s Day. Will it work for Party City? You won’t know until you go to that store to see if your product could potentially fit.

Besides Valentine’s Day, there’s Easter, there are a lot of different of holidays throughout the year and Party City could be a really interesting retailer for those of who have never even considered going after Party City but have a great product, and you might  recreate your product to turn it into something specific for the holidays that would be a fit for Party City. The things to consider one thing that I’ve noticed across the board with people going after chain stores is that they focus on their top three retailers. If they have product for the mass audience, they’ll go after Walmart, Target, Kmart. If they want to go after the Home Depots of the world, it will be Home Depot Lowes.

Not everyone thinks about Party City, you can use that to your advantage because a lot of your competitors are not considering changing your product up, make it more specific for the holiday season and seeing if your product could fit in there for that retailer. Just food for thought, something new, interesting, another way to make money with the retailer, and put them on your list as a potential partner to distribute your products to the world.
